Made It!

Arrived in Paris! My Open Skies plane left the gate at Newark Airport only to turn back because of "technical" problems. You never want to hear that! But all was fixed and here I am. It's a beautiful day in Paris.



I already spotted a few trends from the window of my taxi. Skinny white jeans, blazers, flat jazz shoes, medium-sized leather bags with chains (not the small ones of a few seasons back) and hats. (A cross between a floppy hat and a fedora. Not sure what that would be called. Any hat experts out there?)



My first purchase will be the new French Vogue. I heard there's a great beauty story with our super spokesmodel Daria Werbowy and makeup by our genius artistic director Aaron De Mey. (Check out the behind-the-scenes video above). Penelope Cruz is the guest editor. She pulled together the group of A-listers for the cover, including our very own Kate Winslet. Doesn't she look great? Actually, they all look great. Love that Meryl's in there!



Michelle Phan, our video makeup artist, just posted her latest Lancome video on YouTube. It's about prom makeup. If you or a loved one is headed to the prom, check it out. Whether or not you want to duplicate the look, you can always get great tips and techniques from Michelle. I have to say those YouTube comments are crazy! It's like the Wild Wild West over there. Yikes. I'm very happy everyone is civilized here on the Lancome blog! : )

On the Set of Our New TV Commercial in Paris...And a Baby Kiss Lipstick Giveaway!

So late this afternoon I stopped by the set of our next fragrance commercial. I can't give away too many details because I think there's another day of shooting and the scent hasn't debuted yet. But it will soon. Anyway, the commercial stars Elettra Wiedemann who looked beautiful a la a modern Audrey Hepburn. She wore a short white dress, long black gloves and very high strappy black sandals with a platform. (YSL maybe?) The brilliant and charming Mario Testino is the director.

The set (see above) was packed with dozens of extras, all very chic and good looking, dressed in black, white or a combo of the two. One very tall girl wore a striped shirt, a little black cap, black tights and no pants. Anyone out there rocking the no pants trend? I'm guessing not. The striped shirt trend is HUGE in Paris. Every boutique is stocked with striped shirts, including striped shirts with shoulder pads and jeweled epaulets. I'm sure that's a knockoff of something, but I can't place it. Balmain? The set had a vase of the most amazing roses I've ever seen (pic above) plus plates of hors d'oeuvres with signs telling the extras not to touch them. They shot each scene over and over and over. I could never be an actor.

The male model who plays the love interest in the commercial is originally from Dallas, Texas, and looks like a cross between Hugh Dancy and Robert Pattinson. I swear. I'll post pictures of him as soon as I can. Sorry my pictures aren't very good. I forgot my camera and have had to use my Blackberry!

Lastly, I picked up a Baby Kiss from the Lancome boutique for a giveaway. This is the little pastel-type crayon above from the O My Rose spring collection by Aaron De Mey. Hi, everyone. Day Three in Paris. I went to the Lancome boutique this afternoon on Faubourg St. Honore for the Genifique facial, which was really amazing. I never walk around without makeup if I can avoid it (insecure quirk of mine), but my skin looked and felt so glowy, I couldn't bear to put makeup on afterwards. The esthetician used Galatee Confort cleanser, Secret de Vie cleanser, Tonique Douceur cleanser, Exfoliance Clarte scrub, Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate, Genifique Eye Cream and Genifique Day Cream (which isn't available in the U.S., so I bought one to try at home!). The facial included some ultrasound, lots of massage and some steam. It took an hour and a half total. I haven't had a facial in years, so this was a nice treat. Not to mention insanely relaxing. I think I might have fallen asleep for a little while. Speaking of sleep, it's way past my bedtime. More Paris talk tomorrow.
