Daria Werbowy--Back on the Catwalk!

Working with model Daria Werbowy is one of the nice parts of my job. I've probably said this on the blog before. She's insanely gorgeous, has great personal style and is so easy to work with. We did a shoot with Aaron De Mey and Daria the other week (for a U.S. magazine's December issue--details soon) and it was heaven. Daria had just returned from a month of sailing and she was the definition of tawny.

Daria made a rare catwalk appearance this afternoon in Paris for Balmain. She's all but retired from fashion shows, but she likes Balmain designer Christophe Decarnin so she hits their runway every other season or so.

She also modeled in Tom Ford's first women's presentation during New York Fashion Week. (Beyonce Knowles was one of the models too, as was new Lancome spokesmodel Julia Restoin Roitfeld.) If you hadn't heard, Tom is launching his women's collection in the spring. He, however, is doing it his way and is keeping everything under wraps until next year. The only photographer at the show was a house photographer and everyone invited was asked to keep mum. He wasn't Tweeting or live streaming from backstage or any of that. To paraphrase his WWD interview, and I hope I'm doing it correctly, he feels that social media has caused fashion to lose some of its mystery. Don't look for @mrtomford on Twitter any time soon.

That's one way to whip the social media scene into a frenzy! Deny them!!

Let me know what you think.

Mario Testino's Madrid Exhibit: Todo o Nada

Last week was the opening of Mario Testino's "Todo o Nada" exhibit at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid. I was invited to go, but I couldn't make it. :(

Looking at the pictures from the opening party, I'm doubly sad! Everyone looks so gorgeous and they clearly had a good time. Our spokesmodels Kate Winslet and Daria Werbowy were there, along with Lancome President Youcef Nabi. Mario, as you know, is the creative director and photographer for all Lancome advertising. He's also one of the best portrait and fashion photographers alive today.

Lancome is the sponsor of the exhibit, which is filled with more than 50 amazing photos by Mario (including the gorgeous one of Kate above). It was curated by Patrick Kinmonth. If you live in or near Madrid, please check it out and tell us what you think. "Todo o Nada" runs through Jan. 9th.

Good Hair Day

Belt, Scarf, Shirt by Vero Moda
Zara Short
Marc by Marc Jacobs Purse
Geox Flats
Handmade Ring by Avi & Lena
Those days are really hectic, I am trying to get everything into order, work on my new ideas and reorganize my daily life. Surprisingly, I seem to manage it really well. I continue with the second tag, coming from the super talented Artemis (that girl knows really well how to apply make-up, check her out!). Here we go:
  • 4 things in my bag: (see the post below)
  • 4 things in my wallet: ID card, money, picture of Enrique (!!), gym membership card
  • 4 things in my bedroom: candles, Lush hand cream, leopard blanket, book
  • 4 things I've always wanted to do: be a writer, travel the world, have a dog, date Enrique
  • 4 things I'm currently into: literature, shoe-shopping, training, healthy nutrition
  • 4 things I bet you didn't know about me: 1. When I wear a shirt, I feel uncomfortable and old (outrageous, I know) 2. I never smoked a single cigarette until now, but I love smoking the hubbly-bubbly on a regular basis 3. The best friends I always had were men 4. I talk to my self ("I think loudly" is better), even when I am walking alone on the road.... Rocky Horror Show!
  • 4 songs I can't get out of my head: If I fell in love with you- Beatles, Everything I do- Bryan Adams, Bad medicine- Bon Jovi, Love the way you lie- Rihanna/ Eminem
PS1: If you are in Thessaloniki, do not miss the Wear Vintage Bazaar tommorow!
PS2: Which are the 4 songs that you can't get out of your heads right now? (I really enjoy learning things about you!)

Too Much Information

First of all, we shall take a little break from the Sweden posts, as I have been tagged by 3 wonderful fellow bloggers, so here we go: the first tag was by my beloved Beauty Editor, the well known "What's in my purse" tag. Well, the content of my bag changes from day to day, but concerning today, that is all I've been carrying with me. Some of the things may look a bit odd to you, but it's me! Light magazines, many beauty stuff, a notebook to write down my thoughts and inspirations, tickets, socks (!), whatever! Plus, I almost always carry an umbrella and 2 pairs of sunglasses, but they are not present in the picture.

What is more, I have some a really nice piece of information to share with you: last Saturday, a bunch of bloggers teamed up with Wear Vintage, the first greek vintage on-line shop, to pose for the winter lookbook, in a real surrealistic concept. I'm sure you'll love the results, as we had a really fun time doing the whole thing; plus, it is always nice to meet people who share a true love for that thing called fashion. I'll post the results as soon as I get them, now just take a sneak peek from what is going to follow! In the picture above you can see me with the amazing Christina, in a picture taken by the fabulous Veronica.

The next two tags are following in my next posts, probably tomorrow night. I didn't want to make things really crowded there.

PS1:What is the most unusual thing you carry in your purses? (Curious!!!)

Prarie Fire.

Painting from my photo from Nary Manivong's Spring 2011 show.

This model was so sweet, she'd turn and look at me whenever I'd take a shot of her. You can see the photos in my post from the show.

Styling (oh, how I love the wicked cool bonnets) by Ally Hilfiger.

My Geeky Self

Customized Levi's Jacket
White Long Tank
Vila Scarf
Coral Jeggings
Studded Flats
Yes, I know! I am really pale, just like Nicole Kidman. When people in Sweden asked me where I am from, they couldn't believe that I am from Greece. See, when they hear about Greece they automatically think of sea, sun and tan (and the economic recession, of course). I was having a really fun time when photoshooting there, I bet you can see by yourselves!

PS: Yesterday I met some amazing Greek fellow bloggers from Thessaloniki, be there, a fun project is on the way! Love you all!

Another Brick On The Wall

Customized Levi's Jacket
H&M Men Plaid Shirt
Amplified T-Shirt
Black Jeans
Geox Flats
Marc by Marc Jacobs Purse
It was awfully raining that day, so I decided to have an indoor photo shoot (plus, I love that crimson color). Yes, I know, the shoes were not a really wise choice...

Let me introduce you to the new member of my purse family: that Marc by Marc sweetheart was love from the first sight, so I decided to make it mine. Plus, all of my everyday purses are huge (and no matter what, they are always full), so I already feel some pain on my elbows. Girls, I am sure you understand me... there are so many things we need on a day out in the city! That one, will surely help me feel better, at least when shopping!

Nary Manivong Spring 2011.

Hi all! Here's a little bit of fashion to re-vitalize your Monday.

Spring 2011 looks by Nary Manivong. If you check out my older posts you can see the actual photos from his finished collection. So lovely and springy (maybe not as appropriate on the last day of summer, but pretty all the same).

Hope your week is off to a good start!

Behind the Scenes: L'Wren Scott Spring 2011

The third show that Lancome did during New York Fashion Week was the L'Wren Scott show. As some of you know, it was the third time we worked with L'Wren. Aaron De Mey, our artistic director for makeup, worked with hair stylist Odile Gilbert on the beauty look for the show. Aaron created a dozen custom eye shadows for the show and each corresponded to a different fabric shade (blue, purple, gold, green, red...). Odile then took the eye shadows and painted the part of each model's hair to match her shadow color. By the end of the show, everyone was calling it "hairliner." (I think L'Wren came up with the name!)

L'Wren wanted two different nail polishes for the show. As one of the colors, she used the sparkly red (above) from her upcoming holiday collection for Lancome. (More on this in the weeks to come. It's very exciting!) For the second shade, she asked Lancome to create a brilliant shimmery orange inspired by the Serengeti sunset. I didn't get a good picture of it to share with you, but I'm checking with the other photographers backstage. It's a gorgeous color.

The lip is a mix of Color Design lipstick in Oh My and Juicy Tubes in Touched by Light. Aaron also used the new Teint Miracle foundation (which I'm obsessed with!) and Hypnose Drama mascara.

We're working to see if we can do the eye shadows and the nail polish as a special set for Spring 2011. Stay tuned!

Thanks to L'Wren and her team for a wonderful show. It's always a thrill to work with talented designers who love makeup as much as we do! Make sure to check out the collection on Style.com.

The Zebra Harem Pants

H&M T-Shirt
Stradivarius Pants
Tory Burch Flats
Ιt is late September and it is awfully hot in Greece. For me though, that is a good thing because my Swedish outfits do not seem so out of the season. Unfortunately, that day was the last really hot day of my staying there. From now on the outfits will be more fall-like, so I hope you will feel more inspired for the fabulous new season that is on the way. Today I was thinking about many DIY projects, so stay tuned. As long as everything will be in an order, wonders are gonna happen.

My 1967 Vintage Bag

Pull&Bear Jean Shirt
White Tank
Jean Leggings
Studded Ballet Flats
Vintage Bag
Brown Belt
Summer in Sweden is a bit odd. It is usually cold and rainy, but this one was a pleasant surprise. Temperatures were medium high, almost 20 to 25 degrees in the day and the sun was shining the most of the time. So, what was better than enjoying nature? Sweden is full of parks, forests, lakes and amazing patches of green everywhere around. How could I escape falling in love with it?
That yellow little bag was one of my favorite purchases, as it was dated back to the 1967 and I found it at Beyond Retro, an amazing second hand place you can find only in Sweden and London.

The photos where far too many, and I really couldn't decide, so I posted many of them (sometime I may have a post with all the unpublished pictures I love, I think you will like them too!)

Alice.

Alice, an old piece I posted back at the start of this blog. Just re-scanned her so she looks a little cleaner. Thought I'd share with you. Hope you're having a happy Friday!
