Goodbye to Alexander McQueen
The Lancome team was completely saddened this morning to learn about the death of Alexander McQueen. This is so heartbreakingly awful and I can't imagine what his friends and family are experiencing right now. I've always been an admirer of McQueen's creativity and candor, not to mention that talent that went into producing such beautiful clothes and such original fashion shows.
I never had the privilege of attending one of his shows, but many of my friends did and shared stories about his amazing presentations. Three stand out in my mind. The one where a hologram of Kate Moss appeared in the middle of the runway. Editors I know who attended the show said they wept it was so beautiful. The second was the time a machine spray-painted Shalom Harlow's dress. Shalom, who we had the privilege of working with on a fragrance project once, is one of the best models in the world and brought such a loveliness to the man versus machine scenario. The third was last season's otherworldy collection with those incredible armadillo shoes, the amphibian makeup and those amazing dresses.
Our sympathies go out to all who loved and admired Alexander.
