This Weekend's Lancôme List!

Some things to do, see and read:

—Patricia, of the Lancôme PR team, is profiled on the Beauty Logic blog. Thanks to our friend Mildred for that and congrats on your 400th post. Phew!
—Our new pal Kae, who's behind the very popular Hungry Asian blog, reviews the Lollipop lip/nail charity collection we just launched. She gave herself a manicure with all the shades, and even added a hand-drawn silver Lancôme rose to the Bon Bon Strawberry mani! (See above.)
—There are a few days left to enter our Polyvore.com Hypnôse Senses contest. The winner gets a $250 gift certificate to lancome-usa.com and a bottle of Hypnôse Senses signed by Lancôme spokesmodel Daria Werbowy. (Daria is picking the winning entry!) Five runners-up each get $100 gift certificates.
—Need to amp up your eyeshadow? Get some inspiration from the charming XtellmeaboutmakeupX on YouTube as she discovers Lancôme for the first time. (The first time! Miss X, how is this possible?) She's pretty fearless with the eyeshadow application.
—If you're near a department store, stop by the Lancôme counter and check out our new Oscillation Powerfoundation. Did you see it in O Magazine? It's a fun product and it's unlike anything you've ever tried before. If you're a mineral fan, you will love this. No mess, no fuss, none of that twirling, etc., etc. The puff does all the work. Tell the beauty advisers that The Lancôme Blog sent you!
—I'll be washing my makeup brushes this weekend. Dirty brushes=dirty skin. Yuck. Good brushes will last a long time--but only if you take care of them. Wash yours if you haven't done so in a while.
—Cheer on the Yankees! (Unless you live in Philadelphia, of course.) The World Series is very glamorous this year, with the likes of Kate Hudson and Demi Moore in attendance. (Demi, btw, has a new Helena Rubinstein fragrance coming soon. Can't wait to smell that!)
—Lastly, have a Happy Halloween. Hope it's all treats. xoxo

It's Almost Halloween! Check Out Michelle Phan's Latest Video (& Make Sure to Watch The Ending!)

Looking for Halloween costume ideas? Make sure to check out Michelle Phan's latest round of videos. She's got some fun ideas, from the Sailor Moon video above to Snow White and a seductive vampire. Even if you're not looking for costume ideas, you'll still pick up some great tips from Michelle. Her techniques are terrific.

Not familiar with Sailor Moon? I wasn't either. (Sorry, Michelle!) But this adorable anime character really inspired Michelle when she was little. That said, make sure to watch the ENTIRE video. There's a really nice ending.

If you watch, let us know what you think.

As Emili the Intern would say, peace.love.lancome.

Tell Us What Truly Works (And Win Our Amazing New Eye Cream, Which Really Works Too!)

Here is a list of things that truly work, according to an unscientific survey of the Lancôme P.R. department:

1. Spanx
2. Band-Aid Blister Block
3. Static Guard
4. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser
5. Tide to Go pens
6. Swiffer cloths

You can add our new Génifique eye cream to that list. Erin and I decided to road test the new potion--but just under one eye. The results were pretty impressive. In just one week, you could tell which eyes we were using it under. It's a fantastic gel-like formula that actually works on dark circles and brightens your under-eye area. You might even need less concealer. And it's good for a variety of ages. I'm using it, but so is our intern Madeline, who at 22 years of age is slightly more fresh faced than I am.

It's also great for guys, especially those with dark circles who wouldn't use concealer in a million years. Plus, the packaging is really unisex for those sensitive about such things.

We're giving away a jar of Génifique eye cream. Just tell us one thing that you think really really works and we'll pick one post at random. Please post by Sunday night. Good luck!

Well, Harper's Bazaar is giving away a set of Absolue Precious Cells day cream, eye cream and night cream every day in October. I know, I know. The month's almost over. But there are 11 days and 11 chances left. Each day's prize is worth $385.

Taaz (Rhymes with Oz) Yourself!

Quick post tonight because I have to dash out the door, but have you visited Taaz.com yet? It's a virtual makeover site and it's amazing. All you need is a picture of yourself that you can download. Make sure you have a close-up shot of your face with your hair pulled back. Obviously, I neglected to do that!

Oh, and make sure you have at least a half an hour to fool around on Taaz because it's addictive.

Can you guess whose hairstyle I'm wearing? Post your guess and we'll pick one at random to win a new Hypnose Senses fragrance and a Hypnose Drama mascara. Please post by Friday night.

Have you visited Taaz? Let us know what you think! I've asked the entire PR team to Taaz themselves, so we'll be posting more Taaz makeovers in the weeks ahead...

Oh Lolli Lollipop!

If you've ever been stuck in a hospital for an extended stay, you know what a drag that can be, even with the most dedicated professionals tending to you.

Fortunately, there are amazing human beings around like Evelyn Iocolano. She's the founder of Lollipop Theater Network, a terrific group that brings first-run movies to children and teens hospitalized due to chronic or life-threatening illnesses. Lancôme ambassador Anne Hathaway introduced us to Evelyn and Lollipop and asked what we could do to support the organization.

We decided to take the lollipop theme and run with it. We came up with three lollipop-influenced gloss and nail polish sets and drawings created by some of the Lollipop kids for the boxes. The sets cost $35 and are available exclusively at Nordstrom. We'll be donating $5 from each set. It's my personal mission to make sure each and every one is sold so we can give a nice big check to Lollipop.

My fave: Bon Bon Strawberry. Every time I wear the nail polish, people stop and ask what it is. But Mademoiselle Grape is equally fun. Check it out on actresses Ryan Newman and Rachel Nichols above (lips & nails!). Christina Ricci wore Ma Cherie Cherry as a lip stain.

Regular readers of the blog know that I rarely insist you go out and buy one of our products. But go buy this. It's a nice treat for yourself, and an even nicer treat for someone else.

P.S. A big thanks to the gals on Lancôme's makeup marketing team who worked overtime to make Lollipop a reality!

REVIEW: Living Proof No Frizz

My new go-to styling product for hair!

Living Proof's Wave Shaping, Curl Defining No Frizz Styling Treatment is the product you seek to fall back in love with your wavy, curly hair! I'm convinced. A daily treatment (if needed, or you may go several days without having to wash again) for optimum frizz-reduction and conditioning, it claims to offer the first new anti-frizz technology in over 30 years. No Frizz addresses the two causes of frizz—humidity and friction. As a wavy, curly haired belle in the deep south of New Orleans (read: tropical hell for about 7-8 months of the year), I reeeeeally wanted this product to live of to the hype. It did.

Wave Shaping, Curl Defining No Frizz Styling Treatment provides a superior, extremely thin humidity barrier on hair while reducing surface friction. The result is an effective, lightweight frizz fighter, one of the best on the market today. This expert styling secret weapon contains a touchable holding polymer to give waves and curls added definition. Hair is left sleek and manageable without becoming sticky, "crunchy", greasy or heavy at all. This is a versatile product as well. Comb through and leave hair to air dry, or blow dry for lustrous, shiny locks. Get styling tips from No Frizz here.

Living Proof's No Frizz formulas efficiently deliver PolyfluoroEster to the surface of the hair in one even, perfect layer—devoid of any extraneous additives. This advanced styling aid works great on color-treated hair and is terrific for highly processed hair. No Frizz also repels dirt and oil so you can go longer between shampoos.

I'm telling you, I'm really delighfully impressed with this brand. I've tried this and their Straight Making No Frizz Styling Treatment with equal success. Both are a creamy-gel in texture, with a very light organic-botancial scent. Te key is not to use too much. I have a head full of very thick, wavy, longer-than-shoulder-length hair and all I need is about a quarter-size amount of the treatment in the palm of my hand to handle my whole head of hair. Those with less hair (in thickness or length) will need much less. As such, the bottle will last you a good long while.

Apparently I'm not the only one who has fallen in love with Living Proof's No Frizz products. Marie Claire featured it in their Top Hair Products - Behind the Scenes: Model Behavior article. Living Proof's wavy and straight styling creams are both available in three versions (fine to medium, medium to thick and thick to course) and in two sizes (2 oz and 4 oz). $14 - $24. Available at Sephora, Living Proof ad QVC.

Beauty 411: E! Makeup Artist Lisa Zimmitti (Happy Birthday, Lisa!)

Bonjour, Lancôme blog readers! It’s Erin from the PR team and I’m guest blogging today. I’m responsible for makeup artist relations so it’s my job to know the most talented and in-demand makeup artists in the industry. The last time I was in L.A., I was lucky enough to spend some time with celebrity makeup artist Lisa Zimmitti. She’s the go-to artist for celebs like Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, Catt Sadler, Debbie Matenopoulos and Carnie Wilson--to name a few. In addition to being the makeup department head for E! Entertainment Networks she’s also working on a new water-resistant body makeup line. Read on to find out what this makeup maven has to say about her favorite products, beauty tips and much more…

How did you get started in the beauty industry?
Beauty has always been my passion. I worked at hair salons until I was 20 and then I started working behind the makeup counter for brands like Prescriptives and M.A.C. A friend of mine was the makeup artist for Good Day LA and asked me to do hair for the show. I was hesitant at first since my dream was to be a makeup artist but I knew I had to get my foot in the door. Once you get your foot in the door, it takes a lot of hard work and passion to make your dreams a reality.

Is there one achievement you are particularly proud of?
I love doing red carpet looks for all the award shows--SAG Awards, Golden Globes, Oscars. It's like a fairytale every time.

Is there a big difference between doing makeup for film/TV vs. editorial?
The lighting is very different. For film/TV it's much brighter so it can easily wash out your skin color, where as with editorial the light is softer and diffused. The skin coloring is much truer on an editorial shoot and of course you can use Photoshop afterwards. Also, with editorial you can be much more artistic and expressive with your work as film/TV is more beauty makeup.

If you weren’t a makeup artist, what would you be?
A nutritionist--I love being healthy and eating well. I love salads! My favorite is chicken, walnuts, pears, avocado and gorgonzola cheese with a light balsamic dressing. I also love to workout! We have a gym in our house with a treadmill and spin bike but my favorite workout is a hike up Laurel Canyon in Studio City. It's a real calorie burner!

What are the three Lancôme products you can’t live without?
I love the new Genifique serum. It works great under makeup because it’s lightweight and absorbs quickly into the skin. Oh, and it makes your skin so soft! Definicils mascara in Deep Black is a must-have in my kit. You can create the longest lashes with this formula and the deep black color just screams chic! High Résolution Eye Refill-3X is the best eye cream. It’s the only thing that makes my eyes less puffy. Oh, can I add a fourth product? I’m obsessed with Lancôme self-tanners. People always comment on how great my tan looks, they can’t believe it came from a bottle.

Can you share your favorite beauty tip with our readers? Tinted moisturizers are my secret weapon! They’re lightweight and give you just a hint of color on your face. I wear Bienfait Multi-Vital Teinté on my days off, especially if I am at the beach since it has an SPF 30. You get light coverage, a little color and sun protection all in one!

You are one busy girl! What do you do to relax?
I’m working on four shows right now so I don’t have a lot of time to relax. When I do have a day off, I love to sit on the beach and listen to the waves or simply be silent and only have thoughts of peace around me.

Since Lisa is a health enthusiast, let us know your favorite way to stay fit and you’ll be entered to win Lisa’s favorite Lancôme products mentioned above. We'll pick one post at random. Please post by Monday night. Good luck and have a great weekend.

Beautorium Invites Us to Think Pink and Go Green

Natural beauty retailer Beautorium has announced a new initiative that will unite breast cancer fundraising, in support of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® North Jersey Affiliate, with education about the health benefits of natural and organic beauty products. From Oct. 15, 2009 - Jan. 15, 2010, 25 percent of the proceeds from select products listed at
Beautorium will be donated to the North Jersey Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Beautorium has enlisted several of its brands, among the top natural beauty companies in the world, to participate in the effort. Exuberance Beauty, John Masters Organics, Juice Beauty, Marina Cosmetics, red flower, Revolution Organics, Saaf, Sophyto and Trilogy will donate to the cause. Melvita Organics will also join the lineup at the time of its US debut on Nov. 9. Among the 35 natural and organic products hand-picked to benefit Susan G. Komen North Jersey are Beautorium top-sellers like Trilogy Organic Rosehip Oil, Exuberance Brightening Facial Serum with Vitamin C, Saaf Organic Eraser Body Oil and Juice Beauty SPF 30 Tinted Moisturizer.

The unique support that Beautorium brings to Susan G. Komen North Jersey highlights the organizations’ interest in health awareness and education for women. In addition to raising funds that will help save lives, bring care and support to breast cancer patients and work toward a cure, Beautorium seeks to further the understanding of the importance of natural and organic products for our best health. Many ingredients that are commonly found in commercial beauty preparations have been linked to cancer or other health issues. Given that skin is our largest organ, able to absorb 60% of what we put on our bodies, the choice of natural and organic personal care products is an important step in protecting ourselves from an overload of harmful chemicals.

Beautorium offers only the highest quality natural products that are free from ingredients like parabens, phthalates, sodium laurel sulfate (SLS), sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) and polyethylene glycol (PEG), which may pose serious health risks. To learn more about the potentially harmful ingredients in your beauty products, visit Skin Deep, at cosmeticsdatabase.com.

“I would like to thank Beautorium for raising awareness and funds for our organization from their Think Pink, Go Green Collection. Their support will help us to one day realize our goal and vision of a world without breast cancer.” said Deborah Q. Belfatto, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Susan G. Komen North Jersey.

Beautorium founder Ann Francke says, “We are passionate about the fight against breast cancer and thank Susan G. Komen North Jersey for the opportunity to support their work. We are hoping that our benefit campaign will be highly successful and enjoyed by all!”

We Heart The Makeup and Beauty Blog

We've been meaning for ages to pay tribute to one of our favorite blogs, the Makeup and Beauty Blog, so tonight's the night! If you're not following this blog, you need to add it to your blog list. Karen, the beauty enthusiast behind MABB, does a great job of keeping it fresh.

Too many blogs today just post press releases sent out by the beauty companies and call it a day. But many bloggers out there work overtime to bring you original content. And those are the blogs that deserve your love.

The pics above are from Karen's fun post on Whitney's nail polish on "The City." She thinks it might be Indigo Paris from our Fall 2009 collection. Looks close to us, but only Whitney and her manicurist know for sure.

I hope all of you are pushing the envelope when it comes to your nail polish this season. I'm not suggesting you wear green nail polish or anything like that. : )

But go ahead and be bold.

The Mystery of Perfume: An ELLE and Barney's Special Event
